Meaning in English

This is a source-bound editorial paraphrase for understanding. It is not the Arabic report and is not presented as a verbatim translation.

Editorial paraphrase

'Umar ibn al-Khattab reported that Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (Peace and blessings be upon him) taught that actions are according to intentions and each person has what they intended.

Evidence use

This authenticated report establishes that intention matters to the moral and worship value of an action, while also providing a controlled example in which learners can distinguish the chain, reported wording and collection reference.

Hayiyy and Sittir are indefinite Divine predicates. The context supports modesty and bodily privacy; it does not support hiding abuse, obstructing justice, suppressing necessary medical disclosure or confusing Al-Hayiyy with Al-Hayy.

Begin by naming the kind of evidence in front of you. A Qur’anic panel, an authenticated hadith panel, a collection title, an attribution endpoint and a later scholarly explanation must not be made visually or verbally interchangeable.

The correct answer will be the one that says no more than the displayed evidence supports and keeps the remaining reviewer route open.

Use the correction as part of the learning, not merely as a mark. Reopen the named panel, identify the word or distinction missed, and write a one-sentence reason before attempting the item again.

Keep a written distinction between the evidence itself, the explanation offered here and the conclusion you are presently entitled to repeat. That record makes later correction clear rather than embarrassing.

This is an evidence-controlled introduction. Collection history, technical terminology, grading method, Arabic wording, legal force and disputed applications remain assigned to qualified reviewers before indexing.

Review move: Draw a source-category key before question one.

Marfu, mawquf and maqtu describe where a report is attributed. A collection name describes where it is found. Neither label independently proves a report authentic.

When a question asks about endpoint, do not answer with a grade. When it asks about grade, do not answer with popularity.

When two options sound plausible, choose the one that preserves the source hierarchy and leaves specialist questions open. Overstatement is not made safer by being emotionally reassuring or widely repeated.

An adult guiding a child should invite the child to ask where a claim came from. Reward the careful “I do not know yet” answer whenever the source trail is incomplete.

Even an authenticated report still needs meaning, context, comparison and qualified application. The assessment never treats a search result as a complete fatwa.

Choose the answer that preserves both respect for the report and honesty about the legal or interpretive work still required.

The saved attempt should help a learner return to the exact weakness: source identity, terminology, grading, context or application. Adults assigning the check should discuss that category rather than focusing only on the percentage.

If the terminology becomes difficult, return to the practical question: what is being attributed, through which evidence, according to whom, and what remains to be checked before acting?

This is an evidence-controlled introduction. Collection history, technical terminology, grading method, Arabic wording, legal force and disputed applications remain assigned to qualified reviewers before indexing.

Compare · A. Yusuf Ali

And pursue not that of which thou hast no knowledge; for every act of hearing, or of seeing or of (feeling in) the heart will be enquired into (on the Day of Reckoning).

Reading support

A learner-facing transliteration is deliberately withheld until the complete Arabic wording has passed assigned language review. Learn the supplication from a capable teacher rather than guessing from English letters.

Meaning in English

This is a source-bound editorial paraphrase for understanding. It is not the Arabic report and is not presented as a verbatim translation.

Editorial paraphrase

Yala reported that after the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (Peace and blessings be upon him) saw a man bathing in an open place, he taught that اللّٰه (ALLAH) is Halim, Hayiyy and Sittir, loves modesty and concealment, and instructed people to conceal themselves when bathing.

Evidence use

Hayiyy and Sittir are indefinite Divine predicates. The context supports modesty and bodily privacy; it does not support hiding abuse, obstructing justice, suppressing necessary medical disclosure or confusing Al-Hayiyy with Al-Hayy.

The feedback is part of the lesson. A percentage without corrected reasoning is not the mastery this resource is designed to record.

Never ask a child to condemn a narrator, speaker or community. The educational task is evidence recognition: exact locator, clear boundary, careful wording and referral to a capable teacher when the evidence becomes technical.

Save the page at the point where uncertainty begins. A useful resume point is not only a scroll position; it is the exact distinction that needs another explanation or source.

This is an evidence-controlled introduction. Collection history, technical terminology, grading method, Arabic wording, legal force and disputed applications remain assigned to qualified reviewers before indexing.

A 100% result certifies completion of this assessment only. It does not make the learner a hadith critic or authorise verdicts about narrators, communities or individual practice.

Carry the workflow into one real quotation after passing: locate, label, compare, record and refer.

Complete the check without searching for the answer in a clipped quotation. The purpose is to practise a durable method that can later be used when a social post, video or AI answer presents a religious claim.

Complete the task in plain language before using technical vocabulary. If the plain sentence overstates the evidence, an Arabic label or scholarly term will not repair it.

Help a learner master Major Hadith Collections: Knowledge Check

The Major Hadith Collections · knowledge check Your role is to slow the learning down, keep the exact evidence visible and make it safe for the learner to say, “I am not sure yet.”

Begin with the source

Open the named ayah or hadith before explaining it. Tell the learner whether they are seeing Arabic revelation, a reading aid, a named translation, a hadith translation or editorial teaching.

Invite an answer before helping

Ask one precise question and wait. If the learner struggles, point to the relevant line, narrow the choice or replay the audio before supplying the answer.

Correct with dignity

Praise honest checking and careful effort. Correct the idea or sound without labelling the learner, and never turn a mistake into embarrassment.

01Prepare a focused session
  1. Read Major Hadith Collections: Knowledge Check yourself and open every cited source before inviting the learner.
  2. Choose one realistic aim from the mastery statement. Do not try to teach the whole page in one sitting.
  3. Test any Arabic audio. If a sound is outside your confidence, plan to listen together and seek correction from a capable teacher.
  4. Remove distractions and decide when to stop: about 8–10 minutes for a younger child, 15–20 minutes for ages 8–11, or 20–30 minutes for an older learner.
  5. Keep paper optional. If Qur’anic text is printed, follow the respect and waste guidance shown above the ayah panel.

Opening words: “We are going to learn one idea carefully and see exactly where it comes from. We can pause, replay and check the source whenever we need to.”

02Use a source-led teaching conversation
  1. Connect: Ask what the learner already thinks the title means. Record the answer without immediately judging it.
  2. Read or listen: Open the first evidence panel or cited report. Hear the complete Arabic before isolating one word or phrase.
  3. Notice: Ask the learner to identify the exact words that support the first teaching point. A contextual word gloss is a clue; the complete named translation supplies the sentence meaning.
  4. Explain: Read the teaching paragraph. Ask, “Which part came directly from the source, and which part is the writer helping us understand?”
  5. Apply: Choose one practice task. Keep everyday examples within the boundary of the source; do not invent promises, hidden causes or rulings.
  6. Retrieve: Close the explanation and ask the learner to state the idea, evidence locator and one careful application in their own words.
03Questions for this exact resource
  • “What does Prepare the source categories mean here, and which words or source locator support your answer (Qur'an 17:36)?”
  • “What does Read the exact locator mean here, and which words or source locator support your answer (Qur'an 16:43)?”
  • “Which sentence is revelation or hadith, and which sentence is explanation?”
  • “What would be an overstatement that the cited source does not allow us to make?”
04Adapt the same truth for different ages

Ages 5–7

Teach one short source phrase and one meaning. Use text cards, colour bands, paths or simple geometric symbols—never a picture of اللّٰه (ALLAH) and never an image that implies His form. Let the child point, match, listen and repeat once or twice.

Ages 8–11

Use two or three evidence cards and ask the learner to match each idea to its locator. Invite a short explanation in their own words, then reopen the source to correct it together.

Ages 12–15

Compare the named English translations where provided. Ask what wording differs, what remains constant, and why a translation must not be called the Arabic Qur’an itself.

Ages 16+ and adults

Require a precise claim, an exact source locator and a stated boundary. Invite the learner to distinguish established meaning from inference and to mark any unresolved question for qualified review.

05Support Arabic without creating false confidence
  1. Listen to the whole ayah or supplication first.
  2. Follow the Arabic from right to left and use the word-level controls only after hearing the complete wording.
  3. Treat transliteration as temporary scaffolding. It cannot reproduce every Arabic sound.
  4. Let the learner echo a short unit, then return it to the full phrase so meaning and pronunciation remain connected.
  5. If neither of you can hear or form a sound confidently, record it for a capable Qur’an or Arabic teacher. Do not manufacture an English substitute and call it exact.

Gentle correction: “Let us listen once more and notice where the sound begins,” protects both accuracy and confidence.

06Choose one useful follow-up
  • Answer all twelve questions.
  • Use answer-specific feedback and exact source locators before retrying until 100% mastery.

Complete one task independently before adding another. Adult support should reveal the route, not hide whether the learner can use it.

07Revisit for durable mastery

After 24 hours · five minutes

  1. Ask for the central idea without showing the answer.
  2. Ask the learner to find its source locator.
  3. Replay one Arabic phrase and reconnect it to the complete meaning.
  4. Correct by reopening the source, then end with one successful retrieval.

After seven days · eight minutes

  1. Ask for the idea, source and boundary in the learner’s own words.
  2. Retry the most difficult mastery question.
  3. Apply the idea to one new but appropriate situation.
  4. Record what is secure and what needs another supported attempt.
