A calculation is trustworthy only when its date, evidence, asset rules, intention and recipient route are visible. This lesson turns the earlier distinctions into a repeatable record that a qualified reviewer can audit and a giver can complete without showing off.

Meaning in translation
Saheeh International is the primary reading. The two named comparisons make translation choices visible; none is presented as the Arabic Qur’an itself.
Primary · Saheeh International
And do not pursue that of which you have no knowledge. Indeed, the hearing, the sight and the heart – about all those [one] will be questioned.
Compare · M. Pickthall
(O man), follow not that whereof thou hast no knowledge. Lo! the hearing and the sight and the heart – of each of these it will be asked.
Compare · A. Yusuf Ali
And pursue not that of which thou hast no knowledge; for every act of hearing, or of seeing or of (feeling in) the heart will be enquired into (on the Day of Reckoning).

Use one declared lunar valuation date and attach statements or inventory records that support each balance. Mark missing information rather than backfilling it from memory. A reproducible record allows correction without turning a mistake into concealment.
Read the complete evidence panel before reducing it to a step. The Arabic, named translation, source locator and explanation have different roles; preserving those roles lets a learner worship with confidence without turning a short guide into an unsupported ruling.
Keep three lines in your notes: what the source explicitly says, what this lesson explains, and what remains for qualified review. That structure makes later correction clear rather than embarrassing.
The date on which liability begins and year-completion rules require qualified review. This resource teaches a source-led shared route. Asset valuation, recipient eligibility, school-specific legal classifications, health circumstances and personalised calculations remain assigned to qualified review before indexing.
Learning move: Create a dated evidence index for every included asset.

Editorial paraphrase
Anas transmitted Abu Bakr’s written zakah schedule from Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (Peace and blessings be upon him). It includes livestock schedules and states one-fortieth for qualifying silver, with nothing required below two hundred dirhams unless the owner gives voluntarily.
Evidence use
Authenticated evidence for a silver threshold and one-fortieth rate, and for different schedules across asset classes.

Compare ·
It is He Who produceth gardens, with trellises and without, and dates, and tilth with produce of all kinds, and olives and pomegranates, similar (in kind) and different (in variety): eat of their fruit in their season, but render the dues that are proper on the day that the harvest is gathered. Separate cash, precious metals, trade stock, produce, livestock and unresolved modern assets. Apply one-fortieth only where the reviewed rule supports it. Do not combine unlike items first and then assume a single threshold, year and rate.
A beginner needs a usable route and an honest boundary at the same time. Learn the shared practice first, record any circumstance that changes it, and take medical, financial, disability or school-specific questions to a qualified person who can examine the real case.
Read once for meaning and a second time for boundaries. On the second reading, test strong words such as always, never, invalid and required against the complete evidence shown.
Aggregation rules and cross-asset nisab questions require qualified review. This resource teaches a source-led shared route. The hadith of intentions requires the giver to know what the payment is: current zakah, a correction, voluntary charity or another transfer. Keep that purpose clear before sending money. A public label, donor wall or social post does not create the intention.
Calm completeness is the goal. Repeating an action without evidence, rushing past a required distinction, or ignoring real harm can all move the learner away from careful worship. Work through the evidence once slowly, check once, and improve through reviewed teaching.
An adult guiding a child should praise careful attention and an honest “I need to ask” answer. The aim is worship with understanding, not performance for the teacher.
Timing and whether an agent may form or convey intention require qualified fiqh. This resource teaches a source-led shared route. Asset valuation, recipient eligibility, school-specific legal classifications, health circumstances and personalised calculations remain assigned to qualified review before indexing.
Learning move: Privately label the payment purpose and period before authorising it.

When a qualified method requires market value, record the currency, timestamp, price source and conversion used. Do not mix a gold price from one day, exchange rate from another and business inventory from a third without explanation. Calculators should expose inputs instead of hiding them.
For a younger learner, use plain words, a visual sequence without animate imagery and one correction at a time. Adults should protect privacy, explain unfamiliar terms and never use religious teaching to shame a child.
If terminology becomes difficult, return to the practical question: what is the learner preparing to do, which step is established here, and what fact about the person or situation could change the answer?
Which benchmark and market value apply remain matters for current qualified review. This resource teaches a source-led shared route. Asset valuation, recipient eligibility, school-specific legal classifications, health circumstances and personalised calculations remain assigned to qualified review before indexing.

After the amount is reviewed, select a route that can demonstrate how it applies Qur’an 9:60, protects recipient dignity and keeps adequate records. “Zakah eligible” is a claim that needs evidence; a logo or large following is not enough.
Distinguish a revealed command, an authenticated Prophetic demonstration and a later legal classification. They work together, but they are not interchangeable. Where recognised schools differ, this resource labels the difference instead of presenting one view as the only Islam.
A resume point can preserve more than scroll position. Save the last completed step, the unresolved question and the next safe action so the learner can continue without unnecessary repetition.
Charity regulation, restricted-fund accounting and cross-border delivery require current due diligence. This resource teaches a source-led shared route. Meaning in translation
Saheeh International is the primary reading. The two named comparisons make translation choices visible; none is presented as the Arabic Qur’an itself.
Primary · Saheeh International
Take, [O Muḥammad ﷺ (Peace and blessings be upon him)], from their wealth a charity by which you purify them and cause them increase, and invoke [Allāh's blessings] upon them. Indeed, your invocations are reassurance for them. And Allāh is Hearing and Knowing.
The salutation is an editorial addition; the stored translation is unchanged.
Compare · M. Pickthall
Take alms of their wealth, wherewith thou mayst purify them and mayst make them grow, and pray for them. Lo! thy prayer is an assuagement for them. Allah is Hearer, Knower.
Compare · A. Yusuf Ali
Of their goods, take alms, that so thou mightest purify and sanctify them; and pray on their behalf. Verily thy prayers are a source of security for them: And Allah is One Who heareth and knoweth.

And do not pursue that of which you have no knowledge. Indeed, the hearing, the sight and the heart – about all those [one] will be questioned.

Compare · A. Yusuf Ali
And pursue not that of which thou hast no knowledge; for every act of hearing, or of seeing or of (feeling in) the heart will be enquired into (on the Day of Reckoning).

If an omitted account, wrong price or ineligible route is discovered, preserve the original record, note the correction and seek a qualified decision on any shortfall, surplus or replacement payment. Do not silently overwrite history or assume that voluntary charity automatically repairs every zakah error.
Save the exact point that needs review. A useful learning record says what was completed, what remains uncertain, which source was checked and who should help next. That is more valuable than a confident tick beside a misunderstood step.
Explain the practice in plain language before using legal vocabulary. If the simple sentence overstates the evidence, a technical Arabic label will not repair it.
The effect of overpayment, prepayment, late payment and misdirection requires individual fiqh review. This resource teaches a source-led shared route. Asset valuation, recipient eligibility, school-specific legal classifications, health circumstances and personalised calculations remain assigned to qualified review before indexing.

Qur’an evidence
Qur'an-primary; controlled Quran Foundation QPC Hafs panels. Named translations are human renderings and later fiqh remains separately attributed. Arabic, word alignment, transliteration and named translations are supplied through the separately labelled Quran Foundation panels.
Hadith evidence
Controlled authenticated record: bukhari:1454, bukhari:1. Report wording, grading, legal classification and personal application remain distinct. The collection and reference are preserved; a named displayed grading is not silently changed into a universal claim.
Teaching explanation
Explanatory prose, examples, diagrams and adult teaching advice are Tawheed Club editorial material. They are never presented as Qur’an, translation, tafsir or words of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (Peace and blessings be upon him).
Release control
This item must pass source, meaning, language, editorial and release checks. Corrections remain welcome when supported by an exact source locator.
Help a learner master Calculation, Intention and Giving Responsibly
A calculation is trustworthy only when its date, evidence, asset rules, intention and recipient route are visible. This lesson turns the earlier distinctions into a repeatable record that a qualified reviewer can audit and a giver can complete without showing off. Your role is to slow the learning down, keep the exact evidence visible and make it safe for the learner to say, “I am not sure yet.”
Begin with the source
Open the named ayah or hadith before explaining it. Tell the learner whether they are seeing Arabic revelation, a reading aid, a named translation, a hadith translation or editorial teaching.
Invite an answer before helping
Ask one precise question and wait. If the learner struggles, point to the relevant line, narrow the choice or replay the audio before supplying the answer.
Correct with dignity
Praise honest checking and careful effort. Correct the idea or sound without labelling the learner, and never turn a mistake into embarrassment.
01Prepare a focused session
Read Calculation, Intention and Giving Responsibly yourself and open every cited source before inviting the learner.
Choose one realistic aim from the mastery statement. Do not try to teach the whole page in one sitting.
Test any Arabic audio. If a sound is outside your confidence, plan to listen together and seek correction from a capable teacher.
Remove distractions and decide when to stop: about 8–10 minutes for a younger child, 15–20 minutes for ages 8–11, or 20–30 minutes for an older learner.
Keep paper optional. If Qur’anic text is printed, follow the respect and waste guidance shown above the ayah panel.
Opening words: “We are going to learn one idea carefully and see exactly where it comes from. We can pause, replay and check the source whenever we need to.”
02Use a source-led teaching conversation
Connect: Ask what the learner already thinks the title means. Record the answer without immediately judging it.
Read or listen: Open the first evidence panel or cited report. Hear the complete Arabic before isolating one word or phrase.
Notice: Ask the learner to identify the exact words that support the first teaching point. A contextual word gloss is a clue; the complete named translation supplies the sentence meaning.
Explain: Read the teaching paragraph. Ask, “Which part came directly from the source, and which part is the writer helping us understand?”
Apply: Choose one practice task. Keep everyday examples within the boundary of the source; do not invent promises, hidden causes or rulings.
Retrieve: Close the explanation and ask the learner to state the idea, evidence locator and one careful application in their own words.
03Questions for this exact resource
“What does Choose one calculation date and preserve evidence mean here, and which words or source locator support your answer (Qur'an 17:36)?”
“What does Calculate each asset through its own reviewed rule mean here, and which words or source locator support your answer (Qur'an 6:141)?”
“Which sentence is revelation or hadith, and which sentence is explanation?”
“What would be an overstatement that the cited source does not allow us to make?”
04Adapt the same truth for different ages
Ages 5–7
Teach one short source phrase and one meaning. Use text cards, colour bands, paths or simple geometric symbols—never a picture of اللّٰه(ALLAH) and never an image that implies His form. Let the child point, match, listen and repeat once or twice.
Ages 8–11
Use two or three evidence cards and ask the learner to match each idea to its locator. Invite a short explanation in their own words, then reopen the source to correct it together.
Ages 12–15
Compare the named English translations where provided. Ask what wording differs, what remains constant, and why a translation must not be called the Arabic Qur’an itself.
Ages 16+ and adults
Require a precise claim, an exact source locator and a stated boundary. Invite the learner to distinguish established meaning from inference and to mark any unresolved question for qualified review.
05Support Arabic without creating false confidence
Listen to the whole ayah or supplication first.
Follow the Arabic from right to left and use the word-level controls only after hearing the complete wording.
Treat transliteration as temporary scaffolding. It cannot reproduce every Arabic sound.
Let the learner echo a short unit, then return it to the full phrase so meaning and pronunciation remain connected.
If neither of you can hear or form a sound confidently, record it for a capable Qur’an or Arabic teacher. Do not manufacture an English substitute and call it exact.
Gentle correction: “Let us listen once more and notice where the sound begins,” protects both accuracy and confidence.
06Choose one useful follow-up
Study every controlled evidence panel in context.
Complete the practice move and resume from the saved position.
Complete one task independently before adding another. Adult support should reveal the route, not hide whether the learner can use it.
07Revisit for durable mastery
After 24 hours · five minutes
Ask for the central idea without showing the answer.
Ask the learner to find its source locator.
Replay one Arabic phrase and reconnect it to the complete meaning.
Correct by reopening the source, then end with one successful retrieval.
After seven days · eight minutes
Ask for the idea, source and boundary in the learner’s own words.
Retry the most difficult mastery question.
Apply the idea to one new but appropriate situation.
Record what is secure and what needs another supported attempt.
