Al-Ahad, Al-Wahid and As-Samad Comparison Map

Use an assignable comparison map to label Qur’an evidence, translations, tafsir, safe application, registry boundaries and held occurrence counts.

Applied and progress-trackedClassroom suitableFree access
Guided study toolPrintable and device-ready

Assignable comparison map · print-aware · not auto-marked

Use this map to compare Al-Ahad, Al-Wahid and As-Samad through exact Qur’anic contexts without merging their meanings. It can be assigned to yourself or a linked learner, saved through ordinary reading progress and resumed at the last section. The sheet is not a Divine Names catalogue, a personal faith test or an occurrence-count authority.

Set up the source layers before writing

Create four labels on your page: Qur’an panel, named translation, named tafsir and my careful explanation. Every note must sit under one label. If you print a panel containing Qur’anic text, use the built-in print control, avoid waste, keep the page clean and follow reliable local guidance for respectful handling.

Write “count held” in the occurrence box. Do not copy a total from a search result. A final number requires form, grammar, referent, context, basmalah rule and signed Arabic review. The Al-Ahad entity discrepancy also remains open.

Map Al-Ahad without inventing a catalogue page

  1. Source: record Qur’an 112:1.
  2. Context: summarise what 112:2–4 add—As-Samad, no offspring or birth, no comparable equal.
  3. Translation: name one translator and copy only a short learner note in your own words.
  4. Boundary: write “not one member of a comparable divine series”.
  5. Registry: write “TC-NAME-DISC-001 open; no Al-Ahad entity route claimed”.

Check your work against 112:4. The same surface form appears in a different construction, so a raw string search cannot serve as a Divine Name count. Route detailed phrase study to the Ahad owner page.

Say, "Who is Lord of the heavens and earth?" Say, "Allāh." Say, "Have you then taken besides Him allies not possessing [even] for themselves any benefit or any harm?" Say, "Is the blind equivalent to the seeing? Or is darkness equivalent to light? Or have they attributed to Allāh partners who created like His creation so that the creation [of each] seemed similar to them?" Say, "Allāh is the Creator of all things, and He is the One, the Prevailing."

Compare · M. Pickthall

Say (O Muhammad ﷺ (Peace and blessings be upon him)): Who is Lord of the heavens and the earth? Say: Allah. Say: Take ye then (others) beside Him for protectors, which, even for themselves, have neither benefit nor hurt? Say: Is the blind man equal to the seer, or is darkness equal to light? Or assign they unto Allah partners who created the like of His creation so that the creation (which they made and His creation) seemed alike to them? Say: Allah is the Creator of all things, and He is the One, the Almighty.

The salutation is an editorial addition; the stored translation is unchanged.
Compare · A. Yusuf Ali

Say: "Who is the Lord and Sustainer of the heavens and the earth?" Say: "(It is) Allah." Say: "Do ye then take (for worship) protectors other than Him, such as have no power either for good or for harm to themselves?" Say: "Are the blind equal with those who see? Or the depths of darkness equal with light?" Or do they assign to Allah partners who have created (anything) as He has created, so that the creation seemed to them similar? Say: "Allah is the Creator of all things: He is the One, the Supreme and Irresistible."

In your comparison box write: “Related to Al-Ahad through Divine oneness; not interchangeable in every sentence.” In the pairing box write: “Al-Wahid appears with Al-Qahhar in this controlled context; no exhaustive count or universal recitation rule claimed.” Continue to the formal Al-Wahid study.

Map As-Samad with translation range and dependence

List what three named translations highlight. Then add one attributed tafsir point from Ibn Kathir or Al-Sa’di. Do not blend the sentences into a supposed literal translation. A safe explanatory synthesis is that As-Samad is the perfectly Self-Sufficient Master upon whom all creation depends; label this “explanation”.

Write one responsible dependence example: “I ask اللّٰه (ALLAH) for help with study and use the lawful means of planning, reading and asking a teacher.” Add one safety boundary: “Reliance does not replace medical, legal, emergency, mental-health or safeguarding help.”

Route detailed meaning and pronunciation to the focused As-Samad guide and formal entity evidence to the As-Samad Name study.

Occurrence status Held Held Held in this course

Now add a final row in your own words: one similarity, one distinction and one question needing review. Do not invent an “opposite” for any Name. Use only revealed denials such as no offspring, birth, equivalent or likeness.

Review, teach and submit the assignment safely

  1. Underline every statement that comes directly from a displayed ayah.
  2. Circle each translator or tafsir name. If a human explanation lacks attribution, fix it.
  3. Check that no count has moved from “held” to “fact”.
  4. Check that the Al-Ahad box does not link to or imply a catalogue entity.
  5. Read the dependence example: does it include responsible action and a safety boundary?
  6. Write one question for a qualified reviewer rather than guessing.

For children, complete only the source, simple meaning and safe-action rows with an adult. For older students, add translation comparison and context. Do not require private disclosure, use the sheet to accuse relatives or grade spirituality. Educators may assess source labels, accurate distinctions and honest uncertainty.

When you reach the end, the reading resource can record 100% completion for a signed-in learner. Completion means the map was viewed through the final section; it does not certify theological approval. Review your notes with the lesson sources before sharing them.

Help a learner master Al-Ahad, Al-Wahid and As-Samad Comparison Map

An assignable, print-aware map for evidence, translation, tafsir, boundaries, responsible application and visibly held counts. Your role is to slow the learning down, keep the exact evidence visible and make it safe for the learner to say, “I am not sure yet.”

Begin with the source

Open the named ayah or hadith before explaining it. Tell the learner whether they are seeing Arabic revelation, a reading aid, a named translation, a hadith translation or editorial teaching.

Invite an answer before helping

Ask one precise question and wait. If the learner struggles, point to the relevant line, narrow the choice or replay the audio before supplying the answer.

Correct with dignity

Praise honest checking and careful effort. Correct the idea or sound without labelling the learner, and never turn a mistake into embarrassment.

01Prepare a focused session
  1. Read Al-Ahad, Al-Wahid and As-Samad Comparison Map yourself and open every cited source before inviting the learner.
  2. Choose one realistic aim from the mastery statement. Do not try to teach the whole page in one sitting.
  3. Test any Arabic audio. If a sound is outside your confidence, plan to listen together and seek correction from a capable teacher.
  4. Remove distractions and decide when to stop: about 8–10 minutes for a younger child, 15–20 minutes for ages 8–11, or 20–30 minutes for an older learner.
  5. Keep paper optional. If Qur’anic text is printed, follow the respect and waste guidance shown above the ayah panel.

Opening words: “We are going to learn one idea carefully and see exactly where it comes from. We can pause, replay and check the source whenever we need to.”

02Use a source-led teaching conversation
  1. Connect: Ask what the learner already thinks the title means. Record the answer without immediately judging it.
  2. Read or listen: Open the first evidence panel or cited report. Hear the complete Arabic before isolating one word or phrase.
  3. Notice: Ask the learner to identify the exact words that support the first teaching point. A contextual word gloss is a clue; the complete named translation supplies the sentence meaning.
  4. Explain: Read the teaching paragraph. Ask, “Which part came directly from the source, and which part is the writer helping us understand?”
  5. Apply: Choose one practice task. Keep everyday examples within the boundary of the source; do not invent promises, hidden causes or rulings.
  6. Retrieve: Close the explanation and ask the learner to state the idea, evidence locator and one careful application in their own words.
04Adapt the same truth for different ages

Ages 5–7

Teach one short source phrase and one meaning. Use text cards, colour bands, paths or simple geometric symbols—never a picture of اللّٰه (ALLAH) and never an image that implies His form. Let the child point, match, listen and repeat once or twice.

Ages 8–11

Use two or three evidence cards and ask the learner to match each idea to its locator. Invite a short explanation in their own words, then reopen the source to correct it together.

Ages 12–15

Compare the named English translations where provided. Ask what wording differs, what remains constant, and why a translation must not be called the Arabic Qur’an itself.

Ages 16+ and adults

Require a precise claim, an exact source locator and a stated boundary. Invite the learner to distinguish established meaning from inference and to mark any unresolved question for qualified review.

05Support Arabic without creating false confidence
  1. Listen to the whole ayah or supplication first.
  2. Follow the Arabic from right to left and use the word-level controls only after hearing the complete wording.
  3. Treat transliteration as temporary scaffolding. It cannot reproduce every Arabic sound.
  4. Let the learner echo a short unit, then return it to the full phrase so meaning and pronunciation remain connected.
  5. If neither of you can hear or form a sound confidently, record it for a capable Qur’an or Arabic teacher. Do not manufacture an English substitute and call it exact.

Gentle correction: “Let us listen once more and notice where the sound begins,” protects both accuracy and confidence.

06Choose one useful follow-up
  • Complete one source-labelled row for each form.
  • Review every count and registry boundary before sharing.

Complete one task independently before adding another. Adult support should reveal the route, not hide whether the learner can use it.

07Revisit for durable mastery

After 24 hours · five minutes

  1. Ask for the central idea without showing the answer.
  2. Ask the learner to find its source locator.
  3. Replay one Arabic phrase and reconnect it to the complete meaning.
  4. Correct by reopening the source, then end with one successful retrieval.

After seven days · eight minutes

  1. Ask for the idea, source and boundary in the learner’s own words.
  2. Retry the most difficult mastery question.
  3. Apply the idea to one new but appropriate situation.
  4. Record what is secure and what needs another supported attempt.
