Jibril is explicitly named in both verses. Qur’an 2:97 also states his role in bringing the revelation to the heart of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (Peace and blessings be upon him) by the permission of اللّٰه (ALLAH). This is a model evidence row: proper name, exact locator, stated action and a permission boundary. English readers may know “Gabriel”; that rendering does not create a second angel. Transliteration choices should remain consistent within the site while the controlled Arabic panel preserves the revealed spelling. The role is conveyance, not authorship. A learner who remembers only “angel of revelation” should reopen the verse and add “by Divine permission”, because those words preserve Tawheed and prevent the messenger from becoming an independent authority.

Mikail is explicitly named in Qur’an 2:98. The verse does not state a detailed function for him. Therefore this lesson records the name but leaves the role field unfilled unless a separate authenticated source passes the evidence gate. “Michael” is an English form used in translations, not a different being. The learner should resist the pressure to make every table symmetrical. An empty cell labelled “not established by this panel” is more accurate than a familiar claim copied without its report and grading. This habit transfers to every unseen topic: names, titles and roles are separate claim types. Evidence for one does not automatically prove the others. Qualified specialist review may later add an authenticated role with its exact source; version 1.0 does not anticipate that decision.

Qur’an 32:11 refers to the Angel of Death entrusted with taking people, after which they return to their Lord. The panel supplies a title, an assigned role and a return context. It does not supply a proper name. The course therefore uses “Angel of Death” and does not relabel the title from folklore. It also avoids a frightening character biography, invented physical descriptions and claims about how a particular person’s death will occur. The verse teaches accountability and return. It does not allow a teacher to predict a lifespan, declare the final destination of someone who died or tell a bereaved child that a visible sign proves the angel was present. General belief and individual prediction are different categories.

Qur’an 82:10–12 describes honoured recorders who know what people do. Qur’an 66:6 describes formidable angels appointed over punishment who obey their commands. These roles are established even though this lesson does not assign personal names to each angel. Descriptive Arabic expressions should not be turned casually into individual name badges. Likewise, a role category is not a biography: we do not infer where the recorders stand, what they look like, when they move or how their record works. A child may understand, “My actions matter and اللّٰه (ALLAH) knows them,” without being encouraged to monitor shadows or become anxious about every passing thought. Adults must keep accountability beside mercy, repentance and developmental understanding.

Inspect Qur’an 39:68 and the named translations on Quran.com

Qur’an 39:68 describes the Horn being blown and the tremendous events that follow. This controlled panel does not name the one who blows it. It therefore cannot by itself be used as a public citation for the proper name Israfil. Authenticated Sunnah contains relevant evidence that requires its own exact record, translation and review; until that record is part of the controlled component for this resource, the learner map keeps the name–role pairing held. This example shows why a true general belief can still be an unsuitable citation for a more specific claim. The source must support the exact sentence being published. “Everyone knows it” and “it appears on many lists” are discovery prompts, not evidence.

Careful reading aid

A human-reviewed full transliteration is being prepared. Listen to the complete ayah and use the Arabic with a capable teacher rather than relying on an unreviewed technical conversion.

Transliteration can help you begin, but it cannot reproduce every Arabic sound or replace listening, tajwid study, or correction from a capable teacher.

Meaning in translation

Saheeh International is the primary reading. The two named comparisons make translation choices visible; none is presented as the Arabic Qur’an itself.

Primary · Saheeh International

[All] praise is [due] to Allāh, Creator of the heavens and the earth, [who] made the angels messengers having wings, two or three or four. He increases in creation what He wills. Indeed, Allāh is over all things competent.

Compare · M. Pickthall

Praise be to Allah, the Creator of the heavens and the earth, Who appointeth the angels messengers having wings two, three and four. He multiplieth in creation what He will. Lo! Allah is Able to do all things.

Compare · A. Yusuf Ali

Praise be to Allah, Who created (out of nothing) the heavens and the earth, Who made the angels, messengers with wings,- two, or three, or four (pairs): He adds to Creation as He pleases: for Allah has power over all things.

Prepare four columns: revealed name or title; stated role; exact source; limit. Enter Jibril—conveyance of revelation—2:97—by Divine permission. Enter Mikail—role not supplied by this panel—2:98—do not fill from memory. Enter Angel of Death—taking souls—32:11—title, not a Qur’anic personal name. Enter honoured recorders—recording/knowing deeds—82:10–12—no invented personal names. Ages 5–7 can use just “name” and “job”; ages 8–11 add a source card; ages 12–15 add the limit; adults compare name, title and description. Rebuild the table after 24 hours and again after seven days. A strong answer keeps a blank honest. A wrong answer is corrected by returning to the exact locator, never by embarrassment or guessing.

Qur’an evidence
Qur'an-primary; controlled Quran Foundation QPC Hafs panels. Named translations are visibly labelled and are not revelation. Named tafsir remains attributed commentary. Arabic, word alignment, transliteration and named translations are supplied through the separately labelled Quran Foundation panels.
Hadith evidence
No hadith quotation or paraphrase is used in this resource. The collection and reference are preserved; a named displayed grading is not silently changed into a universal claim.
Teaching explanation
Explanatory prose, examples, diagrams and adult teaching advice are Tawheed Club editorial material. They are never presented as Qur’an, translation, tafsir or words of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (Peace and blessings be upon him).
Release control
This item must pass source, meaning, language, editorial and release checks. Corrections remain welcome when supported by an exact source locator.

Help a learner master Named Angels and Authenticated Roles

Angels · lesson three Your role is to slow the learning down, keep the exact evidence visible and make it safe for the learner to say, “I am not sure yet.”

Begin with the source

Open the named ayah or hadith before explaining it. Tell the learner whether they are seeing Arabic revelation, a reading aid, a named translation, a hadith translation or editorial teaching.

Invite an answer before helping

Ask one precise question and wait. If the learner struggles, point to the relevant line, narrow the choice or replay the audio before supplying the answer.

Correct with dignity

Praise honest checking and careful effort. Correct the idea or sound without labelling the learner, and never turn a mistake into embarrassment.

01Prepare a focused session
  1. Read Named Angels and Authenticated Roles yourself and open every cited source before inviting the learner.
  2. Choose one realistic aim from the mastery statement. Do not try to teach the whole page in one sitting.
  3. Test any Arabic audio. If a sound is outside your confidence, plan to listen together and seek correction from a capable teacher.
  4. Remove distractions and decide when to stop: about 8–10 minutes for a younger child, 15–20 minutes for ages 8–11, or 20–30 minutes for an older learner.
  5. Keep paper optional. If Qur’anic text is printed, follow the respect and waste guidance shown above the ayah panel.

Opening words: “We are going to learn one idea carefully and see exactly where it comes from. We can pause, replay and check the source whenever we need to.”

02Use a source-led teaching conversation
  1. Connect: Ask what the learner already thinks the title means. Record the answer without immediately judging it.
  2. Read or listen: Open the first evidence panel or cited report. Hear the complete Arabic before isolating one word or phrase.
  3. Notice: Ask the learner to identify the exact words that support the first teaching point. A contextual word gloss is a clue; the complete named translation supplies the sentence meaning.
  4. Explain: Read the teaching paragraph. Ask, “Which part came directly from the source, and which part is the writer helping us understand?”
  5. Apply: Choose one practice task. Keep everyday examples within the boundary of the source; do not invent promises, hidden causes or rulings.
  6. Retrieve: Close the explanation and ask the learner to state the idea, evidence locator and one careful application in their own words.
03Questions for this exact resource
  • “What does Jibril: a Qur'anic name with a stated role mean here, and which words or source locator support your answer (Qur'an 2:97)?”
  • “What does Mikail: named without an invented job description mean here, and which words or source locator support your answer (Qur'an 2:98)?”
  • “Which sentence is revelation or hadith, and which sentence is explanation?”
  • “What would be an overstatement that the cited source does not allow us to make?”
04Adapt the same truth for different ages

Ages 5–7

Teach one short source phrase and one meaning. Use text cards, colour bands, paths or simple geometric symbols—never a picture of اللّٰه (ALLAH) and never an image that implies His form. Let the child point, match, listen and repeat once or twice.

Ages 8–11

Use two or three evidence cards and ask the learner to match each idea to its locator. Invite a short explanation in their own words, then reopen the source to correct it together.

Ages 12–15

Compare the named English translations where provided. Ask what wording differs, what remains constant, and why a translation must not be called the Arabic Qur’an itself.

Ages 16+ and adults

Require a precise claim, an exact source locator and a stated boundary. Invite the learner to distinguish established meaning from inference and to mark any unresolved question for qualified review.

05Support Arabic without creating false confidence
  1. Listen to the whole ayah or supplication first.
  2. Follow the Arabic from right to left and use the word-level controls only after hearing the complete wording.
  3. Treat transliteration as temporary scaffolding. It cannot reproduce every Arabic sound.
  4. Let the learner echo a short unit, then return it to the full phrase so meaning and pronunciation remain connected.
  5. If neither of you can hear or form a sound confidently, record it for a capable Qur’an or Arabic teacher. Do not manufacture an English substitute and call it exact.

Gentle correction: “Let us listen once more and notice where the sound begins,” protects both accuracy and confidence.

06Choose one useful follow-up
  • Study every controlled evidence panel in context.
  • Complete the consolidation prompt and use saved progress to resume precisely.

Complete one task independently before adding another. Adult support should reveal the route, not hide whether the learner can use it.

07Revisit for durable mastery

After 24 hours · five minutes

  1. Ask for the central idea without showing the answer.
  2. Ask the learner to find its source locator.
  3. Replay one Arabic phrase and reconnect it to the complete meaning.
  4. Correct by reopening the source, then end with one successful retrieval.

After seven days · eight minutes

  1. Ask for the idea, source and boundary in the learner’s own words.
  2. Retry the most difficult mastery question.
  3. Apply the idea to one new but appropriate situation.
  4. Record what is secure and what needs another supported attempt.
