Manage supervised learners, assign suitable work and support careful, confident learning.
Create a supervised student account
- Sign in with your adult learner account and open Student accounts.
- Expand Add a student account. Enter a display name, a username using letters and numbers, and a temporary password of at least 12 characters.
- Choose the age band if you want to record it; Prefer not to record is available. Select Create student account.
- Give the student their username and password privately. They sign in through the normal learner sign-in page, using that username. A child email address is not required.
Assign work and view the right learner
Open a resource, choose Assign resource, select the student and optionally set a deadline. Confirm only after checking the learner. Follow the full assignment instructions.
In Student accounts, use View assignments to view that student’s record. Use View my progress to return to your own. Viewing a student’s dashboard does not sign you in as that student: their practice must happen in their own login to record their activity.
Reset a student password
Open Account and privacy, expand Reset a supervised student password, and check the selected student. Enter your current adult password and the new student password, then select Set new student password. Give the new password to the student privately. Student recovery does not use the adult email-reset form.
Build a useful learning routine
- Choose one small goal and preview the source yourself. Open the adult-companion guidance when the resource includes it.
- Read or listen together, then invite the learner to explain the idea in their own words before offering help.
- Use feedback to return to the source. Do not treat a reading percentage or a score achieved with hints as proof of independent understanding.
- Keep sessions manageable, return to earlier material and stop when attention fades.
- If a religious question is beyond your knowledge, write it down and seek a qualified, source-based answer. Do not fill the gap with an invented explanation.
Use the Parents and Educators pathway to find suitable starting points. Choose material for the learner’s understanding and circumstances, not only the age label.
