And do not wish for that by which Allāh has made some of you exceed others. For men is a share of what they have earned, and for women is a share of what they have earned. And ask Allāh of His bounty. Indeed Allāh is ever, of all things, Knowing.

Compare · M. Pickthall

And covet not the thing in which Allah hath made some of you excel others. Unto men a fortune from that which they have earned, and unto women a fortune from that which they have earned. (Envy not one another) but ask Allah of His bounty. Lo! Allah is ever Knower of all things.

Compare · A. Yusuf Ali

And in no wise covet those things in which Allah Hath bestowed His gifts More freely on some of you than on others: To men is allotted what they earn, and to women what they earn: But ask Allah of His bounty. For Allah hath full knowledge of all things.

Qur’an 4:32 tells believers not to covet advantages given to some over others, states that men and women have a share of what they earn, and directs them to ask اللّٰه (ALLAH) from His bounty. The verse acknowledges differentiated circumstances and personal moral acquisition.

Each gold Qur’an panel uses the locked Uthmani Arabic catalogue and separately named English translations. The page keeps direct Qur’anic teaching, authentic hadith, qualified interpretation, current law, safeguarding guidance and Tawheed Club’s educational explanation in separate categories. A translation is not the Arabic Qur’an, a cultural expectation is not revelation, and a general webpage cannot decide an individual marriage, legal dispute or safeguarding case.

Dignity boundary: men and women are created servants of اللّٰه (ALLAH), morally accountable to Him and never objects of worship. Honour is not measured by sex, ethnicity, wealth, disability, marital status, fertility, occupation or conformity to a stereotype. The Qur’an may assign or discuss particular responsibilities without permitting contempt, exploitation or denial of an established right.

The verse is not permission to invent a list of male and female personalities. It also does not erase specific rules found elsewhere. Every proposed difference still needs evidence, scope and honest language.

For adults teaching children: teach dignity, permission, privacy, kind speech and safe disclosure through fictional, age-appropriate examples. Never ask a child to judge adult marital conflict, carry messages between adults or keep abuse secret. Give every child at least two trusted adults and a simple phrase such as “I need help and I do not feel safe.” Respond calmly, believe the need for protection and use the proper safeguarding route.

Qur’an 4:7 assigns men and women obligatory shares from what parents and close relatives leave, whether the estate is small or large. The verse directly established women as legal recipients of inheritance within the Qur’anic system.

Inheritance shares are not a universal wage scale, intelligence ranking or measure of divine worth. The detailed law includes multiple heirs and configurations; a webpage must not calculate or distribute a real estate without qualified legal and scholarly review.

Likewise, a woman’s property is not automatically absorbed into her husband’s property, and family maintenance does not make the recipient a possession. Current civil property and marriage law varies by country and may create additional rights and procedures.

Use precise language: “this rule assigns X in this defined configuration” rather than “Islam always gives every man twice every woman”. The second sentence is factually overbroad.

Evidence practice: write the exact claim, then label its source: Qur’an, authentic hadith, qualified fiqh, verified biological or social evidence, local law, family custom or personal preference. Ask whether the statement addresses every person, an average, a defined role or one case. Open the complete source, retain conditions and recognised disagreement, and name the qualified person responsible for applying it. This prevents revelation from being mixed with assumptions and prevents a slogan from deciding someone’s rights or safety.

Meaning in translation

Saheeh International is the primary reading. The two named comparisons make translation choices visible; none is presented as the Arabic Qur’an itself.

Primary · Saheeh International

Mothers may nurse [i.e., breastfeed] their children two complete years for whoever wishes to complete the nursing [period]. Upon the father is their [i.e., the mothers'] provision and their clothing according to what is acceptable. No person is charged with more than his capacity. No mother should be harmed through her child, and no father through his child. And upon the [father's] heir is [a duty] like that [of the father]. And if they both desire weaning through mutual consent from both of them and consultation, there is no blame upon either of them. And if you wish to have your children nursed by a substitute, there is no blame upon you as long as you give payment according to what is acceptable. And fear Allāh and know that Allāh is Seeing of what you do.

Compare · M. Pickthall

Mothers shall suckle their children for two whole years; (that is) for those who wish to complete the suckling. The duty of feeding and clothing nursing mothers in a seemly manner is upon the father of the child. No-one should be charged beyond his capacity. A mother should not be made to suffer because of her child, nor should he to whom the child is born (be made to suffer) because of his child. And on the (father's) heir is incumbent the like of that (which was incumbent on the father). If they desire to wean the child by mutual consent and (after) consultation, it is no sin for them; and if ye wish to give your children out to nurse, it is no sin for you, provide that ye pay what is due from you in kindness. Observe your duty to Allah, and know that Allah is Seer of what ye do.

Compare · A. Yusuf Ali

The mothers shall give such to their offspring for two whole years, if the father desires to complete the term. But he shall bear the cost of their food and clothing on equitable terms. No soul shall have a burden laid on it greater than it can bear. No mother shall be Treated unfairly on account of her child. Nor father on account of his child, an heir shall be chargeable in the same way. If they both decide on weaning, by mutual consent, and after due consultation, there is no blame on them. If ye decide on a foster-mother for your offspring, there is no blame on you, provided ye pay (the mother) what ye offered, on equitable terms. But fear Allah and know that Allah sees well what ye do.

Qur’an 2:233 discusses two complete years of breastfeeding for those wishing to complete the period, places fitting provision and clothing on the father, rejects burdening either parent because of the child, and requires mutual consultation for weaning.

The verse recognises the mother’s embodied work, the father’s financial responsibility, the child’s welfare and consultation. It does not permit coercion, neglect or using the child as leverage.

Biological realities can generate particular needs without making every woman a mother or every man identical in capacity. Infertility, disability, illness, adoption, fostering and different household circumstances require compassion and precise guidance.

Medical statements about sex, pregnancy or development must come from current qualified sources. A religious teacher should not invent medical facts, and a clinician does not automatically issue a religious ruling.

Evidence practice: write the exact claim, then label its source: Qur’an, authentic hadith, qualified fiqh, verified biological or social evidence, local law, family custom or personal preference. Divorced women remain in waiting [i.e., do not remarry] for three periods, and it is not lawful for them to conceal what Allāh has created in their wombs if they believe in Allāh and the Last Day. And their husbands have more right to take them back in this [period] if they want reconciliation. And due to them [i.e., the wives] is similar to what is expected of them, according to what is reasonable. But the men [i.e., husbands] have a degree over them [in responsibility and authority]. And Allāh is Exalted in Might and Wise.

Compare · M. Pickthall

Women who are divorced shall wait, keeping themselves apart, three (monthly) courses. And it is not lawful for them that they should conceal that which Allah hath created in their wombs if they are believers in Allah and the Last Day. And their husbands would do better to take them back in that case if they desire a reconciliation. And they (women) have rights similar to those (of men) over them in kindness, and men are a degree above them. Allah is Mighty, Wise.

Compare · A. Yusuf Ali

Divorced women shall wait concerning themselves for three monthly periods. Nor is it lawful for them to hide what Allah Hath created in their wombs, if they have faith in Allah and the Last Day. And their husbands have the better right to take them back in that period, if they wish for reconciliation. And women shall have rights similar to the rights against them, according to what is equitable; but men have a degree (of advantage) over them. And Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise.

Qur’an 2:228, within divorce and waiting-period rules, states that women have rights similar to obligations according to what is recognised, while also mentioning a degree for men. The complete legal context matters; the phrase cannot be isolated either to erase structure or to justify limitless authority.

Classical and contemporary scholars explain the “degree” in relation to marital responsibility and divorce law in different detail. It is not a declaration that every man is morally, intellectually or spiritually superior to every woman.

Reciprocity is not mathematical identity. One spouse may carry a financial duty while both owe truthful conduct and protection from harm. One person’s right does not authorise violation of the other’s body, property, worship or access to safety.

For an individual dispute, identify the marriage contract, jurisdiction, finances, children, capacity and exact alleged breach before seeking qualified advice.

Qur’an 30:21 places tranquillity, affection and mercy between spouses as a sign. Stereotypes obstruct these aims when one spouse stops listening to the actual person and reacts to an imagined category instead.

Sahih Muslim 1468b teaches that a believing man should not hate a believing woman entirely because he dislikes one characteristic; another may please him. The report guides proportion and fairness, not pressure to remain in danger.

People vary within each sex. Skills, temperament, strength, income, scholarship, care ability and risk tolerance must be assessed individually. Average differences, where robustly established, still do not prove that every individual fits the average.

Reject degrading sayings even when presented as humour. Repeated contempt can become emotional abuse and can train children to associate faith with humiliation.

Safeguarding boundary: physical or sexual violence, threats, stalking, forced marriage, reproductive coercion, economic abuse, isolation, faith-based intimidation and patterns of controlling behaviour are not ordinary disagreements to be solved by a worksheet. Immediate danger requires local emergency help. A person seeking safety should contact a trusted specialist service, healthcare professional, safeguarding lead or police route appropriate to their country. Do not alert an alleged perpetrator, mediate a high-risk case or store a survivor’s plan where it can be found.

Compare · M. Pickthall

O mankind! Lo! We have created you male and female, and have made you nations and tribes that ye may know one another. Lo! the noblest of you, in the sight of Allah, is the best in conduct. Lo! Allah is Knower, Aware.

Compare · A. Yusuf Ali

O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other (not that ye may despise (each other). Verily the most honoured of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things).

Open Qur’an 49:13 and the named translations on Quran.com

Qur’an 49:13 locates honour in God-consciousness, not inherited group identity. A difference may be real without becoming a claim of superior divine rank.

Label each statement: direct revelation; qualified legal application; verified biological fact; population-level evidence; personal observation; or cultural expectation. Then add scope: all, most, some, one role or one person. Remove the claim if evidence does not support its scope.

Practise with “men provide”, “women nurture” and “boys do not cry”. The first may refer to a defined maintenance duty and still needs legal context. The second confuses a valued activity with a universal personality. The third is a harmful cultural command, not revelation.

Continue to Modesty, Privacy and Respectful Interaction.

Create four cards: direct rule, biological fact, statistical average and cultural expectation. Move each example only when evidence changes. A population average cannot decide one person’s competence; a cultural habit cannot become revelation; and a direct rule cannot be erased by an anecdote.

For inheritance or maintenance, use fictional cases and stop before calculation. List heirs, contract, jurisdiction and disputed facts so the learner sees why a qualified expert is required.

Completion checkpoint: identify the exact evidence, its source category, the scope of the claim, the right or responsibility involved and any safety risk. Confirm that no family custom has been called revelation, no difference has been turned into contempt, no modesty rule has been used to blame a victim and no difficult verse has been used to block lawful protection. Where facts or authority are missing, document the question and refer safely.
