Digital Decision, Verification and Family Safety Workbook

1. Define the task before opening a tool

Qur’an 2:255 establishes the incomparable knowledge and authority of اللّٰه (ALLAH). Begin by writing: “This system is a limited human-built tool. It is not revelation, a knower of the unseen or a moral authority.”

Each gold Qur’an panel uses the locked Uthmani Arabic catalogue and separately named English translations. The page keeps six categories distinct: direct Qur’anic teaching, authentic hadith, qualified fiqh application, current technical evidence, current law or regulation, and Tawheed Club’s educational guidance. Technology changes quickly; a current technical description is not revelation, and a general fiqh statement is not an automatic verdict for every tool or use.

Tawheed boundary: اللّٰه (ALLAH) alone is the Creator, the Knower of the unseen and the source from whom all created ability and permitted knowledge ultimately come. People build machines from created matter and use faculties they did not originate. An AI system is a tool: it is not divine, prophetic, a rival creator, a moral authority or a source of revelation. Fluent output is not proof of consciousness, wisdom, truth or access to the unseen.

Classify the consequence as low, medium, high or prohibited. A spelling suggestion may be low consequence. A public religious claim, assessment decision or synthetic voice is higher. A request involving fraud, sexual exploitation, fabricated evidence or harmful intrusion must not proceed.

For adults teaching children: demonstrate with fictional prompts and non-animate sample media. Teach children never to enter a real name, face, voice, school, address, location, medical detail or private conversation into an AI tool. Keep adult-controlled accounts and privacy settings, supervise generated content, explain that convincing output can be wrong, and provide a simple route for reporting anything frightening, sexual, hateful, manipulative or secretive.

2. Build the verification log

Qur’an 17:36 forbids following what one has no knowledge of. The workbook therefore requires the original source and does not accept “the AI said so” as evidence.

Qur’an 49:6 commands verification before ignorant harm and regret. Slow down most where the claim affects belief, worship, reputation, safety, money, education or legal rights.

Decision: publish with source / label uncertainty / seek review / correct / withhold. If the claim cannot be verified and could harm someone, withholding it is a valid result.

3. Record an image or synthetic-media decision

Sahih al-Bukhari 5950, Sahih al-Bukhari 5954 and Sahih Muslim 2110a are the authentic reports studied in the course. Do not begin the worksheet by assuming that every contemporary application is undisputed.

Ruling boundary: authentic reports contain serious warnings about image-making. Qualified scholars differ over how those reports apply to photography, video, animation, digital drawing and AI-generated imagery. This course records the texts and recognised applications without declaring the disagreement imaginary or pretending that an earlier scholar ruled on a technology that did not yet exist. Ask a qualified scholar who understands the exact medium, subject, purpose, audience and harm.

Digital-safety boundary: never upload passwords, private messages, confidential school or work files, intimate images, health records, children’s identifiers or another person’s data to a public AI service. Never use generated output as the sole basis for medical, legal, financial, safeguarding or religious decisions. Immediate threats, grooming, blackmail, self-harm material, sexual exploitation or credible violence require a trusted adult and the appropriate local professional or emergency route.

4. Minimise personal and confidential data

Qur’an 24:27 provides a moral frame of permission and respect for private space. It does not replace current data-protection law, service terms or safeguarding duties.

Qur’an 49:12 forbids spying and backbiting. Access to a device or conversation does not grant permission to expose everything found there.

Remove every item not strictly necessary. Replace real cases with fictional examples. Do not paste confidential material merely to ask whether it is confidential. 5. Make a household safety and attention plan

Qur’an 103:3 describes rescue from loss through faith, righteous deeds, counselling truth and counselling patience. The household plan should make room for those purposes rather than allowing devices to command every moment.

Agree an emergency phrase a child can use without explaining everything at once. Adults promise to respond calmly, protect the child and avoid public exposure. Grooming, blackmail, sexual images, self-harm content or credible threats move immediately to the proper safeguarding or emergency route.

Practise first with a fictional case: an AI-generated image claiming to show a real event. Locate its origin, inspect provenance without treating provenance as proof, seek independent confirmation, assess consent and harm, record the relevant image-making view and decide whether to share.
