Wudu Step by Step · lesson 1
Before the first wash, know why you are making wudu, confirm that water is safely usable, remove ordinary barriers and identify any wound, device or uncertainty that needs a different route. Intention directs an ordinary wash into worship without requiring an invented public script.

Ayah 5:6
A human-reviewed full transliteration is being prepared. Listen to the complete ayah and use the Arabic with a capable teacher rather than relying on an unreviewed technical conversion.
Transliteration can help you begin, but it cannot reproduce every Arabic sound or replace listening, tajwid study, or correction from a capable teacher.Read from right to left. Each column keeps one Arabic word, its reading aid and its contextual gloss together. Select a word to hear it.
Saheeh International is the primary reading. The two named comparisons make translation choices visible; none is presented as the Arabic Qur’an itself.
O you who have believed, when you rise to [perform] prayer, wash your faces and your forearms to the elbows and wipe over your heads and wash your feet to the ankles. And if you are in a state of janābah,1 then purify yourselves. But if you are ill or on a journey or one of you comes from the place of relieving himself or you have contacted women2 and do not find water, then seek clean earth and wipe over your faces and hands with it. Allāh does not intend to make difficulty for you, but He intends to purify you and complete His favor upon you that you may be grateful.
O ye who believe! When ye rise up for prayer, wash you faces, and your hands up to the elbows, and lightly rub your heads and (wash) your feet up to the ankles. And if ye are unclean, purify yourselves. And if ye are sick or on a journey, or one of you cometh from the closet, or ye have had contact with women, and ye find not water, then go to clean, high ground and rub your faces and your hands with some of it. Allah would not place a burden on you, but He would purify you and would perfect His grace upon you, that ye may give thanks.
O ye who believe! when ye prepare for prayer, wash your faces, and your hands (and arms) to the elbows; Rub your heads (with water); and (wash) your feet to the ankles. If ye are in a state of ceremonial impurity, bathe your whole body. But if ye are ill, or on a journey, or one of you cometh from offices of nature, or ye have been in contact with women, and ye find no water, then take for yourselves clean sand or earth, and rub therewith your faces and hands, Allah doth not wish to place you in a difficulty, but to make you clean, and to complete his favour to you, that ye may be grateful.

Wudu is undertaken as purification for prayer and related worship, not merely because hands or face feel dirty. Qur’an 5:6 supplies the worship context. A learner can hold the intention in the heart without performing it for an audience.
Read the complete evidence panel before reducing it to a step. The Arabic, named translation, source locator and explanation have different roles; preserving those roles lets a learner worship with confidence without turning a short guide into an unsupported ruling.
Keep three lines in your notes: what the source explicitly says, what this lesson explains, and what remains for qualified review. That structure makes later correction clear rather than embarrassing.
Legal schools differ over the classification and exact timing of intention. This resource teaches a careful shared route. Detailed legal classification, school-specific minimums, unusual circumstances and personalised medical or disability cases remain assigned to qualified review before indexing.
Learning move: State privately which act of purification you are beginning and why.
Actions are judged by intentions
Authenticated hadith study · Sahih al-Bukhari
Sahih al-Bukhari 1
A learner-facing transliteration is deliberately withheld until the complete Arabic wording has passed assigned language review. Learn the supplication from a capable teacher rather than guessing from English letters.
This is a source-bound editorial paraphrase for understanding. It is not the Arabic report and is not presented as a verbatim translation.
'Umar ibn al-Khattab reported that Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (Peace and blessings be upon him) taught that actions are according to intentions and each person has what they intended.
This authenticated report establishes that intention matters to the moral and worship value of an action, while also providing a controlled example in which learners can distinguish the chain, reported wording and collection reference.

Sahih al-Bukhari 1 records the general principle that actions are judged by intentions. Applied carefully, the learner knows the purpose in the heart. This page does not invent a fixed Arabic sentence or claim that saying one aloud is required by the report.
A beginner needs a usable route and an honest boundary at the same time. Learn the shared practice first, record any circumstance that changes it, and take medical, disability or school-specific questions to a qualified person who can examine the real case.
Read once for meaning and a second time for boundaries. On the second reading, test strong words such as always, never, invalid and required against the complete evidence shown.
Detailed school classification remains attributed fiqh. This resource teaches a careful shared route. Detailed legal classification, school-specific minimums, unusual circumstances and personalised medical or disability cases remain assigned to qualified review before indexing.

Confirm the water source, temperature, access and safety. Water that will cause medically significant harm, damage a dressing or create a fall risk changes the factual case and should be referred before practice. Mere preference is not the same as inability.
Calm completeness is the goal. Repeating an action without evidence, rushing past a required area, or forcing the body through pain can all move the learner away from careful worship. Practise once slowly, check once, and improve through observed teaching.
An adult guiding a child should praise careful attention and an honest “I need to ask” answer. The aim is worship with understanding, not performance for the teacher.

Move a tight ordinary ring, watch, sleeve or removable coating when it prevents water reaching a required outward area. Do not remove a cast, prescribed dressing, medical line or sensor against clinical advice; obtain an individual worship adaptation.
For a younger learner, use plain words, a visual sequence without animate imagery and one correction at a time. Adults should protect privacy, ask before helping physically and never use purification or prayer teaching to shame a child.
If terminology becomes difficult, return to the practical question: what is the learner preparing to do, which step is established here, and what fact about the person or situation could change the answer?

Remove relevant physical impurity from body or clothing through a reviewed method, and make wudu for ritual purification. One does not silently replace the other. This distinction matters when a learner is physically clean but has lost wudu, or has wudu and later notices contamination.
Distinguish a revealed command, an authenticated Prophetic demonstration and a later legal classification. They work together, but they are not interchangeable. Where recognised schools differ, this resource labels the difference instead of presenting one view as the only Islam.
A resume point can preserve more than scroll position. Save the last completed step, the unresolved question and the next safe action so the learner can continue without unnecessary repetition.

Roll sleeves, secure clothing, place a nonslip surface, sit if needed and position a small vessel or towel. Good preparation makes complete coverage easier and reduces waste and falls. A helper should ask permission before touching.
Save the exact point that needs review. A useful learning record says what was completed, what remains uncertain, which source was checked and who should help next. That is more valuable than a confident tick beside a misunderstood step.
Explain the practice in plain language before using legal vocabulary. If the simple sentence overstates the evidence, a technical Arabic label will not repair it.

Tell the learner whether they are seeing Arabic revelation, a reading aid, a named translation, a hadith translation or editorial teaching. Ask one precise question and wait. If the learner struggles, point to the relevant line, narrow the choice or replay the audio before supplying the answer. Praise honest checking and careful effort. Correct the idea or sound without labelling the learner, and never turn a mistake into embarrassment. Opening words: “We are going to learn one idea carefully and see exactly where it comes from. We can pause, replay and check the source whenever we need to.” Teach one short source phrase and one meaning. Use text cards, colour bands, paths or simple geometric symbols—never a picture of اللّٰه (ALLAH) and never an image that implies His form. Let the child point, match, listen and repeat once or twice. Use two or three evidence cards and ask the learner to match each idea to its locator. Invite a short explanation in their own words, then reopen the source to correct it together. Compare the named English translations where provided. Ask what wording differs, what remains constant, and why a translation must not be called the Arabic Qur’an itself. Require a precise claim, an exact source locator and a stated boundary. Invite the learner to distinguish established meaning from inference and to mark any unresolved question for qualified review.
