Meaning in translation

Saheeh International is the primary reading. The two named comparisons make translation choices visible; none is presented as the Arabic Qur’an itself.

Primary · Saheeh International

Mothers may nurse [i.e., breastfeed] their children two complete years for whoever wishes to complete the nursing [period]. Upon the father is their [i.e., the mothers'] provision and their clothing according to what is acceptable. No person is charged with more than his capacity. No mother should be harmed through her child, and no father through his child. And upon the [father's] heir is [a duty] like that [of the father]. And if they both desire weaning through mutual consent from both of them and consultation, there is no blame upon either of them. And if you wish to have your children nursed by a substitute, there is no blame upon you as long as you give payment according to what is acceptable. And fear Allāh and know that Allāh is Seeing of what you do.

Compare · M. Pickthall

Mothers shall suckle their children for two whole years; (that is) for those who wish to complete the suckling. The duty of feeding and clothing nursing mothers in a seemly manner is upon the father of the child. No-one should be charged beyond his capacity. A mother should not be made to suffer because of her child, nor should he to whom the child is born (be made to suffer) because of his child. And on the (father's) heir is incumbent the like of that (which was incumbent on the father). If they desire to wean the child by mutual consent and (after) consultation, it is no sin for them; and if ye wish to give your children out to nurse, it is no sin for you, provide that ye pay what is due from you in kindness. Observe your duty to Allah, and know that Allah is Seer of what ye do.

Compare · A. Yusuf Ali

The mothers shall give such to their offspring for two whole years, if the father desires to complete the term. But he shall bear the cost of their food and clothing on equitable terms. No soul shall have a burden laid on it greater than it can bear. No mother shall be Treated unfairly on account of her child. Nor father on account of his child, an heir shall be chargeable in the same way. If they both decide on weaning, by mutual consent, and after due consultation, there is no blame on them. If ye decide on a foster-mother for your offspring, there is no blame on you, provided ye pay (the mother) what ye offered, on equitable terms. But fear Allah and know that Allah sees well what ye do.

A newborn enters a family with dignity, dependence and rights. Revelation gives examples of naming, prayer and parental care, while authenticated Sunnah records naming and tahnik. These sources should inspire gratitude and responsible care without turning a general resource into medical advice or an invented ritual guarantee.

Qur’an 19:7 records the naming of Yahya before birth, and Sahih al-Bukhari 5467 records the newborn Ibrahim being named. Choose a good, lawful name and verify its language and meaning rather than trusting an attractive internet graphic. Read the complete evidence panel and keep the revealed wording, explanation, practical method and qualified application visibly distinct.

Read the complete evidence panel before reducing it to a step. The Arabic, named translation, source locator and explanation have different roles; preserving those roles lets a learner worship with confidence without turning a short guide into an unsupported ruling.

Keep three lines in your notes: what the source explicitly says, what this lesson explains, and what remains for qualified review. That structure makes later correction clear rather than embarrassing.

Naming customs, registration deadlines and disputed name rulings require qualified scholarly and local legal review.

Learning move: Open lesson 1, complete its practice move and save any referral question.

So by mercy from Allāh, [O Muḥammad ﷺ (Peace and blessings be upon him)], you were lenient with them. And if you had been rude [in speech] and harsh in heart, they would have disbanded from about you. So pardon them and ask forgiveness for them and consult them in the matter. And when you have decided, then rely upon Allāh. Indeed, Allāh loves those who rely [upon Him].

Compare · M. Pickthall

It was by the mercy of Allah that thou wast lenient with them (O Muhammad ﷺ (Peace and blessings be upon him)), for if thou hadst been stern and fierce of heart they would have dispersed from round about thee. So pardon them and ask forgiveness for them and consult with them upon the conduct of affairs. And when thou art resolved, then put thy trust in Allah. Lo! Allah loveth those who put their trust (in Him).

The salutation is an editorial addition; the stored translation is unchanged.
Compare · A. Yusuf Ali

It is part of the Mercy of Allah that thou dost deal gently with them Wert thou severe or harsh-hearted, they would have broken away from about thee: so pass over (Their faults), and ask for (Allah's) forgiveness for them; and consult them in affairs (of moment). Then, when thou hast Taken a decision put thy trust in Allah. For Allah loves those who put their trust (in Him).

Children learn from the climate adults create as well as the words adults choose. The Qur’an preserves Luqman’s direct, affectionate counsel, commands wisdom and good instruction, and records gentleness as a reason people remained close. A home can therefore teach truth clearly without making fear, shame or performance the centre.

Qur’an 16:125 commands invitation with wisdom, good instruction and the best manner of discussion. Keep the same truthful principle while changing vocabulary, example length and activity for the learner’s age and understanding. Read the complete evidence panel and keep the revealed wording, explanation, practical method and qualified application visibly distinct.

A beginner needs a usable route and an honest boundary at the same time. Learn the shared practice first, record any circumstance that changes it, and take medical, financial, disability or school-specific questions to a qualified person who can examine the real case.

Read once for meaning and a second time for boundaries. On the second reading, test strong words such as always, never, invalid and required against the complete evidence shown.

Apply this principle only after the person’s age, understanding, safety, capacity, rights and local setting have been checked.

Learning move: Open lesson 2, complete its practice move and save any referral question.

Meaning in English

This is a source-bound editorial paraphrase for understanding. It is not the Arabic report and is not presented as a verbatim translation.

Editorial paraphrase

Abdullah ibn Amr reported that Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (Peace and blessings be upon him) instructed parents to establish children in prayer from seven, used physical-discipline wording at ten, and instructed separation of sleeping places.

Evidence use

The report gives an age-linked teaching responsibility and privacy boundary; its physical wording must never be isolated from child safety, qualified interpretation and governing law.

Saheeh International is the primary reading. The two named comparisons make translation choices visible; none is presented as the Arabic Qur’an itself.

Primary · Saheeh International

O you who have believed, let those whom your right hands possess and those who have not [yet] reached puberty among you ask permission of you [before entering] at three times: before the dawn prayer and when you put aside your clothing [for rest] at noon and after the night prayer. [These are] three times of privacy for you. There is no blame upon you nor upon them beyond these [periods], for they continually circulate among you – some of you, among others. Thus does Allāh make clear to you the verses [i.e., His ordinances]; and Allāh is Knowing and Wise.

Compare · M. Pickthall

O ye who believe! Let your slaves, and those of you who have not come to puberty, ask leave of you at three times (before they come into your presence): Before the prayer of dawn, and when ye lay aside your raiment for the heat of noon, and after the prayer of night. Three times of privacy for you. It is no sin for them or for you at other times, when some of you go round attendant upon others (if they come into your presence without leave). Thus Allah maketh clear the revelations for you. Allah is Knower, Wise.

Compare · A. Yusuf Ali

O ye who believe! let those whom your right hands possess, and the (children) among you who have not come of age ask your permission (before they come to your presence), on three occasions: before morning prayer; the while ye doff your clothes for the noonday heat; and after the late-night prayer: these are your three times of undress: outside those times it is not wrong for you or for them to move about attending to each other: Thus does Allah make clear the Signs to you: for Allah is full of knowledge and wisdom.

Prayer is taught over years through adult example, family routine, patient instruction and growing responsibility. Revelation also teaches privacy boundaries as children mature. One authenticated report contains physical-discipline wording; this lesson displays it rather than hiding it, while making clear that it is never a licence for abuse and requires qualified interpretation under current safeguarding law.

Sunan Abi Dawud 495 gives age-linked prayer instruction, uses physical-discipline wording at ten, and addresses separation of sleeping places. Use the record to plan early modelling and growing responsibility, while sending its disputed practical and legal application to qualified hadith, fiqh, safeguarding and legal review. Read the complete evidence panel and keep the revealed wording, explanation, practical method and qualified application visibly distinct.

Calm completeness is the goal. Repeating an action without evidence, rushing past a required distinction, or ignoring real harm can all move the learner away from careful worship. Work through the evidence once slowly, check once, and improve through reviewed teaching.

An adult guiding a child should praise careful attention and an honest “I need to ask” answer. The aim is worship with understanding, not performance for the teacher.

The report is not permission for abuse, injury, pain, fear, humiliation, coercive control or unlawful physical punishment. The website does not instruct any physical action.

A teenager’s questions can be part of serious learning rather than proof of rejection. The Qur’an honours believing young people, teaches learners to ask for knowledge, verify reports and avoid claims without knowledge. Parents can preserve belonging while gradually transferring responsibility and opening routes to trustworthy teachers and safeguarding help.

Qur’an 49:6 requires verification so people are not harmed through ignorance. Check author, complete context, evidence and purpose before sharing or arguing about a clip. Read the complete evidence panel and keep the revealed wording, explanation, practical method and qualified application visibly distinct.

For a younger learner, use plain words, a visual sequence without animate imagery and one correction at a time. Adults should protect privacy, explain unfamiliar terms and never use religious teaching to shame a child.

If terminology becomes difficult, return to the practical question: what is the learner preparing to do, which step is established here, and what fact about the person or situation could change the answer?

Verification is not permission for covert surveillance, impersonation, device hacking or humiliating public exposure.

Learning move: Open lesson 4, complete its practice move and save any referral question.

Keep revelation, demonstration and legal classification distinct

Primary · Saheeh International

Allāh does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity. It will have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what [evil] it has earned. "Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people."

Compare · M. Pickthall

Allah tasketh not a soul beyond its scope. For it (is only) that which it hath earned, and against it (only) that which it hath deserved. Our Lord! Condemn us not if we forget, or miss the mark! Our Lord! Lay not on us such a burden as thou didst lay on those before us! Our Lord! Impose not on us that which we have not the strength to bear! Pardon us, absolve us and have mercy on us, Thou, our Protector, and give us victory over the disbelieving folk.

Compare · A. Yusuf Ali

On no soul doth Allah Place a burden greater than it can bear. It gets every good that it earns, and it suffers every ill that it earns. (Pray:) "Our Lord! Condemn us not if we forget or fall into error; our Lord! Lay not on us a burden Like that which Thou didst lay on those before us; Our Lord! Lay not on us a burden greater than we have strength to bear. Blot out our sins, and grant us forgiveness. Have mercy on us. Thou art our Protector; Help us against those who stand against faith."

The course begins with the Qur’anic command, uses authenticated Prophetic teaching where relevant and labels later legal classifications. This gives a learner a usable route without pretending that a short page decides every recognised difference or personal case.

Distinguish a revealed command, an authenticated Prophetic demonstration and a later legal classification. They work together, but they are not interchangeable. Where recognised schools differ, this resource labels the difference instead of presenting one view as the only Islam.

A resume point can preserve more than scroll position. Save the last completed step, the unresolved question and the next safe action so the learner can continue without unnecessary repetition.

This is general education, not a personal medical, mental-health, safeguarding, funeral, family-law or civil-law ruling. Abuse, immediate danger, a child or adult-welfare concern, impaired capacity, severe distress and governing local law require appropriate qualified or emergency support before indexing.

Learning move: Make three columns headed revelation, authenticated demonstration and qualified application.

For each age and learner, record the faith idea, adult example, child-sized explanation, safe practice, question route and review date. Watch what the child understands rather than forcing a script. Stop any approach that causes fear, injury, humiliation, secrecy or loss of safety.

Record what has been learned, practised and checked. Do not turn uncertainty into repeated worship, abandoned obligations or authority over another learner. The next action should be specific and proportionate.

Save the exact point that needs review. A useful learning record says what was completed, what remains uncertain, which source was checked and who should help next. That is more valuable than a confident tick beside a misunderstood step.

Explain the practice in plain language before using legal vocabulary. If the simple sentence overstates the evidence, a technical Arabic label will not repair it.

Help a learner master Parenting from Newborn to Young Adult

Children are trusts with changing needs, not miniature adults and not possessions. This course follows a child from birth into growing independence, showing how faith can be taught through truthful words, loving example, patient routines, age-appropriate responsibility and protected questions. Your role is to slow the learning down, keep the exact evidence visible and make it safe for the learner to say, “I am not sure yet.”

Begin with the source

Open the named ayah or hadith before explaining it. Tell the learner whether they are seeing Arabic revelation, a reading aid, a named translation, a hadith translation or editorial teaching.

Invite an answer before helping

Ask one precise question and wait. If the learner struggles, point to the relevant line, narrow the choice or replay the audio before supplying the answer.

Correct with dignity

Praise honest checking and careful effort. Correct the idea or sound without labelling the learner, and never turn a mistake into embarrassment.

01Prepare a focused session
  1. Read Parenting from Newborn to Young Adult yourself and open every cited source before inviting the learner.
  2. Choose one realistic aim from the mastery statement. Do not try to teach the whole page in one sitting.
  3. Test any Arabic audio. If a sound is outside your confidence, plan to listen together and seek correction from a capable teacher.
  4. Remove distractions and decide when to stop: about 8–10 minutes for a younger child, 15–20 minutes for ages 8–11, or 20–30 minutes for an older learner.
  5. Keep paper optional. If Qur’anic text is printed, follow the respect and waste guidance shown above the ayah panel.

Opening words: “We are going to learn one idea carefully and see exactly where it comes from. We can pause, replay and check the source whenever we need to.”

02Use a source-led teaching conversation
  1. Connect: Ask what the learner already thinks the title means. Record the answer without immediately judging it.
  2. Read or listen: Open the first evidence panel or cited report. Hear the complete Arabic before isolating one word or phrase.
  3. Notice: Ask the learner to identify the exact words that support the first teaching point. A contextual word gloss is a clue; the complete named translation supplies the sentence meaning.
  4. Explain: Read the teaching paragraph. Ask, “Which part came directly from the source, and which part is the writer helping us understand?”
  5. Apply: Choose one practice task. Keep everyday examples within the boundary of the source; do not invent promises, hidden causes or rulings.
  6. Retrieve: Close the explanation and ask the learner to state the idea, evidence locator and one careful application in their own words.
03Questions for this exact resource
  • “What does Welcoming and Naming a Newborn mean here, and which words or source locator support your answer (Qur'an 19:7)?”
  • “What does Teaching Faith with Love and Example mean here, and which words or source locator support your answer (Qur'an 3:36)?”
  • “Which sentence is revelation or hadith, and which sentence is explanation?”
  • “What would be an overstatement that the cited source does not allow us to make?”
04Adapt the same truth for different ages

Ages 5–7

Teach one short source phrase and one meaning. Use text cards, colour bands, paths or simple geometric symbols—never a picture of اللّٰه (ALLAH) and never an image that implies His form. Let the child point, match, listen and repeat once or twice.

Ages 8–11

Use two or three evidence cards and ask the learner to match each idea to its locator. Invite a short explanation in their own words, then reopen the source to correct it together.

Ages 12–15

Compare the named English translations where provided. Ask what wording differs, what remains constant, and why a translation must not be called the Arabic Qur’an itself.

Ages 16+ and adults

Require a precise claim, an exact source locator and a stated boundary. Invite the learner to distinguish established meaning from inference and to mark any unresolved question for qualified review.

05Support Arabic without creating false confidence
  1. Listen to the whole ayah or supplication first.
  2. Follow the Arabic from right to left and use the word-level controls only after hearing the complete wording.
  3. Treat transliteration as temporary scaffolding. It cannot reproduce every Arabic sound.
  4. Let the learner echo a short unit, then return it to the full phrase so meaning and pronunciation remain connected.
  5. If neither of you can hear or form a sound confidently, record it for a capable Qur’an or Arabic teacher. Do not manufacture an English substitute and call it exact.

Gentle correction: “Let us listen once more and notice where the sound begins,” protects both accuracy and confidence.

06Choose one useful follow-up
  • Study every controlled evidence panel in context.
  • Complete the learning move and resume from the saved position.

Complete one task independently before adding another. Adult support should reveal the route, not hide whether the learner can use it.

07Revisit for durable mastery

After 24 hours · five minutes

  1. Ask for the central idea without showing the answer.
  2. Ask the learner to find its source locator.
  3. Replay one Arabic phrase and reconnect it to the complete meaning.
  4. Correct by reopening the source, then end with one successful retrieval.

After seven days · eight minutes

  1. Ask for the idea, source and boundary in the learner’s own words.
  2. Retry the most difficult mastery question.
  3. Apply the idea to one new but appropriate situation.
  4. Record what is secure and what needs another supported attempt.
