Knowledge check

Repentance, Privacy and Qualified Judgement Mastery Check

Review repentance, privacy, gentle correction and the limits of individual judgement through twelve questions with precise source locators and feedback.

Automatically marked100% pass standardProgress enabled
Interactive quiz100% required to pass

Correction in Islam is not a performance of superiority. It begins with truth, hope, privacy and awareness of our limits. This mastery check asks you to recognise those boundaries and choose responses that help a learner return to what is right without spying, humiliating or issuing personal verdicts.

1. Know what this check measures

Study Conditions, Barriers and Who May Judge and Correcting Yourself without Policing Others before beginning. The questions cover source limits, repentance, privacy, gentleness and repair.

There are twelve questions with one best answer each. Three use Arabic already visible in the Qur’an panels. A 100% pass mark supports re-reading and reattempts; it is not a judgement about a person’s repentance, knowledge, worth or acceptance by اللّٰه (ALLAH).

No question asks you to decide whether a named person is a believer. No activity requires searching a device, questioning relatives, exposing a private mistake or contacting someone accused online. A genuine safety issue should go to an appropriate responsible adult or authority without waiting for this educational exercise.

2. Keep knowledge limits visible

Primary · Saheeh International

O you who have believed, when you go forth [to fight] in the cause of Allāh, investigate; and do not say to one who gives you [a greeting of] peace, "You are not a believer," aspiring for the goods of worldly life; for with Allāh are many acquisitions. You [yourselves] were like that before; then Allāh conferred His favor [i.e., guidance] upon you, so investigate. Indeed Allāh is ever, of what you do, Aware.

Compare · M. Pickthall

O ye who believe! When ye go forth (to fight) in the way of Allah, be careful to discriminate, and say not unto one who offereth you peace: "Thou art not a believer," seeking the chance profits of this life (so that ye may despoil him). With Allah are plenteous spoils. Even thus (as he now is) were ye before; but Allah hath since then been gracious unto you. Therefore take care to discriminate. Allah is ever Informed of what ye do.

Compare · A. Yusuf Ali

O ye who believe! When ye go abroad in the cause of Allah, investigate carefully, and say not to any one who offers you a salutation: "Thou art none of a believer!" Coveting the perishable goods of this life: with Allah are profits and spoils abundant. Even thus were ye yourselves before, till Allah conferred on you His favours: Therefore carefully investigate. For Allah is well aware of all that ye do.

The conflict setting remains explicit. The repeated direction to investigate and the warning against denying a person’s faith for worldly gain teach grave restraint. Our application does not copy the historical situation onto every conversation; it preserves the principle that high-stakes claims need reliable knowledge and context.

Some religious descriptions concern words or actions in general. Applying such a description to an individual can require facts about what was meant, what was known, what was forced and whether the wording has been established. The learner’s safe role is to understand the general teaching, correct their own mistakes and ask a properly framed question.

Sahih Muslim 2747a reports a person who misspeaks from extreme joy after recovering his lost mount and provisions. The report demonstrates that wording and circumstance matter; it does not make every harmful statement harmless or remove responsibility automatically.

The ayah addresses servants who have transgressed against themselves and tells them not to despair of the mercy of اللّٰه (ALLAH). Read it with the next ayah’s call to turn back and submit. Hope is not permission to persist carelessly; it opens the door to sincere return.

When a learner discovers that they passed on an inaccurate religious claim, the first useful act is not hunting for someone worse. They can stop repeating it, locate the correct source, revise their words and consider whether their mistake harmed someone. That is responsible learning rather than public self-display.

Repentance belongs to اللّٰه (ALLAH) and the servant. A quiz cannot certify it. Adults should not demand private confessions from children as proof of learning. The task can stay with a fictional sentence and a corrected source reference.

The Arabic item concerning لَا تَقْنَطُواْ asks you to recognise the supplied reading and contextual meaning within the whole verse. Do not isolate it from mercy, forgiveness and the call to return.

Saheeh International is the primary reading. The two named comparisons make translation choices visible; none is presented as the Arabic Qur’an itself.

Primary · Saheeh International

O you who have believed, avoid much [negative] assumption. Indeed, some assumption is sin. And do not spy or backbite each other. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his brother when dead? You would detest it. And fear Allāh; indeed, Allāh is Accepting of Repentance and Merciful.

Compare · M. Pickthall

O ye who believe! Shun much suspicion; for lo! some suspicion is a crime. And spy not, neither backbite one another. Would one of you love to eat the flesh of his dead brother? Ye abhor that (so abhor the other)! And keep your duty (to Allah). Lo! Allah is Relenting, Merciful.

Compare · A. Yusuf Ali

O ye who believe! Avoid suspicion as much (as possible): for suspicion in some cases is a sin: And spy not on each other behind their backs. Would any of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? Nay, ye would abhor it… But fear Allah: For Allah is Oft-Returning, Most Merciful.

Arabic scope
The complete direct reported statement is retained without the transmission chain and the compiler's closing biographical note.
Evidence boundary
The report does not provide a universal self-service script for every offence. Safety, law, safeguarding and the harmed person’s rights can require qualified advice rather than direct contact.

Open Sahih al-Bukhari 2449 at the named source

Sahih al-Bukhari 2449 warns about wronging another person in reputation or otherwise and the seriousness of unresolved rights. A real repair can be complex. Contact may be unsafe or may increase harm, so this resource does not give a universal instruction for every personal case.

For a fictional public misquotation, a suitable correction might state the accurate reference, remove the unsupported allegation and avoid repeating the person’s name. For a confidential safeguarding matter, follow the relevant protective route rather than announcing it publicly.

5. Explain why the alternatives fail

After marking, choose one wrong option and name the hidden mistake. Did it erase the historical setting? Did it convert suspicion into fact? Did it confuse gentle speech with avoidance of truth? Did it promise that a quiz or apology proves acceptance?

The Arabic-recognition questions use words that the panels already teach. عِلْمٌ is connected to knowledge in 17:36. لَا تَقْنَطُواْ carries the “do not despair” instruction in 39:53. وَلَا تَجَسَّسُواْ carries the prohibition of spying in 49:12. Each must be read inside the full ayah.

Reattempt after reviewing the exact locator. The feedback names the lesson section, verse or hadith. Do not memorise the position of the correct answer; explain the principle in your own words. Return tomorrow to one item and again after several days to test recall.

When the evidence does not settle a personal case, write a careful question: what happened, what is confirmed, what source is relevant and which qualified person or protective authority needs to be asked. Leave out names when they are unnecessary.

Test the wording of that question before sending it. Does it describe an actual statement or only a rumour about it? Does it name the verse, narration or explanation being discussed? Does it ask for understanding rather than demand a verdict? A well-framed question makes it easier for a qualified person to identify the real issue and prevents an uncertain detail from becoming the headline.

6. Adult guidance for teaching correction with mercy

Ages 5–7: use a fictional wrong page number. Help the child find and correct it, then say something kind. The point is that mistakes can be repaired; do not introduce adult disputes or private wrongdoing.

Ages 8–11: compare “I heard this” with “I checked this in the named source.” Let the learner improve a sentence without naming a real person. Explain that asking a trusted adult about danger is different from spreading a rumour.

Ages 12–15: discuss a fictional repost. Ask how to stop its spread, correct the attribution and avoid public humiliation. Do not search a learner’s device as part of the activity or require disclosure of their private communications.

Ages 16 and above: distinguish a general theological description from an individual judgement. Discuss why knowledge, context and authority matter. Where scholarship differs, name the difference rather than pretending the quiz settles it.

Keep the tone hopeful and firm. Offer oral answers, short stages, recitation replay and larger text. Praise a learner who says what they do not know. The educational aim is honest return, accurate attribution and safe repair.
