Indeed, aṣ-Ṣafā and al-Marwah are among the symbols of Allāh. So whoever makes ḥajj [pilgrimage] to the House or performs ʿumrah – there is no blame upon him for walking between them. And whoever volunteers good – then indeed, Allāh is Appreciative and Knowing.

Compare · M. Pickthall

Lo! (the mountains) As-Safa and Al-Marwah are among the indications of Allah. It is therefore no sin for him who is on pilgrimage to the House (of Allah) or visiteth it, to go around them (as the pagan custom is). And he who doeth good of his own accord, (for him) lo! Allah is Responsive, Aware.

Compare · A. Yusuf Ali

Behold! Safa and Marwa are among the Symbols of Allah. So if those who visit the House in the Season or at other times, should compass them round, it is no sin in them. And if any one obeyeth his own impulse to good,- be sure that Allah is He Who recogniseth and knoweth.

The journey is undertaken to worship اللّٰه (ALLAH) through a revealed rite. Intention is the settled purpose of entering Umrah; learners should not be taught that repeatedly pronouncing a doubtful formula repairs an unplanned route.

Read the complete evidence panel before reducing it to a step. The Arabic, named translation, source locator and explanation have different roles; preserving those roles lets a learner worship with confidence without turning a short guide into an unsupported ruling.

Keep three lines in your notes: what the source explicitly says, what this lesson explains, and what remains for qualified review. That structure makes later correction clear rather than embarrassing.

Exact intention timing and spoken formulas require qualified instruction. This resource teaches a source-led shared route. Personal health, pregnancy, menstruation, fidya, compensatory duties, pilgrimage form, accessibility, sacrifice, omitted rites and local operational rules remain assigned to qualified review before indexing.

Learning move: Explain “Intention identifies worship, not a slogan” in one plain sentence, name the evidence and record any personal fact that could change the application.

Sahih al-Bukhari 1524 names approach points for people intending Hajj or Umrah, including travellers passing through from elsewhere. Flight and road plans therefore need an identified miqat and preparation before it, not an improvised decision after reaching Makkah.

A beginner needs a usable route and an honest boundary at the same time. Learn the shared practice first, record any circumstance that changes it, and take medical, financial, disability or school-specific questions to a qualified person who can examine the real case.

Read once for meaning and a second time for boundaries. On the second reading, test strong words such as always, never, invalid and required against the complete evidence shown.

Flights, residence within boundaries and an accidental crossing require qualified review. This resource teaches a source-led shared route. Personal health, pregnancy, menstruation, fidya, compensatory duties, pilgrimage form, accessibility, sacrifice, omitted rites and local operational rules remain assigned to qualified review before indexing.

The authenticated report describes preparation, garments, entry and talbiyah together. A person may wear pilgrimage clothing before entering the state, while restrictions follow the entered rite; keep preparation and legal state distinct.

Calm completeness is the goal. Repeating an action without evidence, rushing past a required distinction, or ignoring real harm can all move the learner away from careful worship. Work through the evidence once slowly, check once, and improve through reviewed teaching.

An adult guiding a child should praise careful attention and an honest “I need to ask” answer. The aim is worship with understanding, not performance for the teacher.

Clothing differs by sex, and exact entry and restriction rules require qualified review. This resource teaches a source-led shared route. Allāh does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity. It will have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what [evil] it has earned. "Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people."

Compare · M. Pickthall

Allah tasketh not a soul beyond its scope. For it (is only) that which it hath earned, and against it (only) that which it hath deserved. Our Lord! Condemn us not if we forget, or miss the mark! Our Lord! Lay not on us such a burden as thou didst lay on those before us! Our Lord! Impose not on us that which we have not the strength to bear! Pardon us, absolve us and have mercy on us, Thou, our Protector, and give us victory over the disbelieving folk.

Compare · A. Yusuf Ali

On no soul doth Allah Place a burden greater than it can bear. It gets every good that it earns, and it suffers every ill that it earns. (Pray:) "Our Lord! Condemn us not if we forget or fall into error; our Lord! Lay not on us a burden Like that which Thou didst lay on those before us; Our Lord! Lay not on us a burden greater than we have strength to bear. Blot out our sins, and grant us forgiveness. Have mercy on us. Thou art our Protector; Help us against those who stand against faith."

Prepare prescriptions, unscented alternatives where advised, continence supplies, mobility equipment and emergency contacts before the miqat. Do not stop medication or hide disability to imitate an able-bodied checklist.

For a younger learner, use plain words, a visual sequence without animate imagery and one correction at a time. Adults should protect privacy, explain unfamiliar terms and never use religious teaching to shame a child.

If terminology becomes difficult, return to the practical question: what is the learner preparing to do, which step is established here, and what fact about the person or situation could change the answer?

Hair, nails, fragrance, marital intimacy, hunting, clothing and necessity cases contain important distinctions. Carry a reviewed checklist and a qualified contact; if an error occurs, record the facts before assuming the Umrah is ruined or inventing compensation.

Save the exact point that needs review. A useful learning record says what was completed, what remains uncertain, which source was checked and who should help next. That is more valuable than a confident tick beside a misunderstood step.

Explain the practice in plain language before using legal vocabulary. If the simple sentence overstates the evidence, a technical Arabic label will not repair it.

Violation, forgetfulness, necessity and compensation are qualified fiqh questions. This resource teaches a source-led shared route. Personal health, pregnancy, menstruation, fidya, compensatory duties, pilgrimage form, accessibility, sacrifice, omitted rites and local operational rules remain assigned to qualified review before indexing.

Learning move: Explain “Restrictions need a reviewed list, not memory fragments” in one plain sentence, name the evidence and record any personal fact that could change the application.

Qur’an evidence
Qur'an-primary; controlled Quran Foundation QPC Hafs panels. Named translations are human renderings and later fiqh remains separately attributed. Arabic, word alignment, transliteration and named translations are supplied through the separately labelled Quran Foundation panels.
Hadith evidence
Controlled authenticated record: bukhari:1524, bukhari:1545. Report wording, grading, legal classification and personal application remain distinct. The collection and reference are preserved; a named displayed grading is not silently changed into a universal claim.
Teaching explanation
Explanatory prose, examples, diagrams and adult teaching advice are Tawheed Club editorial material. They are never presented as Qur’an, translation, tafsir or words of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (Peace and blessings be upon him).
Release control
This item must pass source, meaning, language, editorial and release checks. Corrections remain welcome when supported by an exact source locator.

Help a learner master Intention, Miqat and Ihram

Umrah begins before the Sacred Mosque. The traveller identifies the applicable miqat, prepares safely and enters a state of consecration for worship rather than treating ihram as two pieces of clothing or a photograph taken after arrival. Your role is to slow the learning down, keep the exact evidence visible and make it safe for the learner to say, “I am not sure yet.”

Begin with the source

Open the named ayah or hadith before explaining it. Tell the learner whether they are seeing Arabic revelation, a reading aid, a named translation, a hadith translation or editorial teaching.

Invite an answer before helping

Ask one precise question and wait. If the learner struggles, point to the relevant line, narrow the choice or replay the audio before supplying the answer.

Correct with dignity

Praise honest checking and careful effort. Correct the idea or sound without labelling the learner, and never turn a mistake into embarrassment.

01Prepare a focused session
  1. Read Intention, Miqat and Ihram yourself and open every cited source before inviting the learner.
  2. Choose one realistic aim from the mastery statement. Do not try to teach the whole page in one sitting.
  3. Test any Arabic audio. If a sound is outside your confidence, plan to listen together and seek correction from a capable teacher.
  4. Remove distractions and decide when to stop: about 8–10 minutes for a younger child, 15–20 minutes for ages 8–11, or 20–30 minutes for an older learner.
  5. Keep paper optional. If Qur’anic text is printed, follow the respect and waste guidance shown above the ayah panel.

Opening words: “We are going to learn one idea carefully and see exactly where it comes from. We can pause, replay and check the source whenever we need to.”

02Use a source-led teaching conversation
  1. Connect: Ask what the learner already thinks the title means. Record the answer without immediately judging it.
  2. Read or listen: Open the first evidence panel or cited report. Hear the complete Arabic before isolating one word or phrase.
  3. Notice: Ask the learner to identify the exact words that support the first teaching point. A contextual word gloss is a clue; the complete named translation supplies the sentence meaning.
  4. Explain: Read the teaching paragraph. Ask, “Which part came directly from the source, and which part is the writer helping us understand?”
  5. Apply: Choose one practice task. Keep everyday examples within the boundary of the source; do not invent promises, hidden causes or rulings.
  6. Retrieve: Close the explanation and ask the learner to state the idea, evidence locator and one careful application in their own words.
03Questions for this exact resource
  • “What does Intention identifies worship, not a slogan mean here, and which words or source locator support your answer (Qur'an 2:158)?”
  • “What does The applicable miqat is identified before crossing mean here, and which words or source locator support your answer (Qur'an 17:36)?”
  • “Which sentence is revelation or hadith, and which sentence is explanation?”
  • “What would be an overstatement that the cited source does not allow us to make?”
04Adapt the same truth for different ages

Ages 5–7

Teach one short source phrase and one meaning. Use text cards, colour bands, paths or simple geometric symbols—never a picture of اللّٰه (ALLAH) and never an image that implies His form. Let the child point, match, listen and repeat once or twice.

Ages 8–11

Use two or three evidence cards and ask the learner to match each idea to its locator. Invite a short explanation in their own words, then reopen the source to correct it together.

Ages 12–15

Compare the named English translations where provided. Ask what wording differs, what remains constant, and why a translation must not be called the Arabic Qur’an itself.

Ages 16+ and adults

Require a precise claim, an exact source locator and a stated boundary. Invite the learner to distinguish established meaning from inference and to mark any unresolved question for qualified review.

05Support Arabic without creating false confidence
  1. Listen to the whole ayah or supplication first.
  2. Follow the Arabic from right to left and use the word-level controls only after hearing the complete wording.
  3. Treat transliteration as temporary scaffolding. It cannot reproduce every Arabic sound.
  4. Let the learner echo a short unit, then return it to the full phrase so meaning and pronunciation remain connected.
  5. If neither of you can hear or form a sound confidently, record it for a capable Qur’an or Arabic teacher. Do not manufacture an English substitute and call it exact.

Gentle correction: “Let us listen once more and notice where the sound begins,” protects both accuracy and confidence.

06Choose one useful follow-up
  • Study every controlled evidence panel in context.
  • Complete the practice move and resume from the saved position.

Complete one task independently before adding another. Adult support should reveal the route, not hide whether the learner can use it.

07Revisit for durable mastery

After 24 hours · five minutes

  1. Ask for the central idea without showing the answer.
  2. Ask the learner to find its source locator.
  3. Replay one Arabic phrase and reconnect it to the complete meaning.
  4. Correct by reopening the source, then end with one successful retrieval.

After seven days · eight minutes

  1. Ask for the idea, source and boundary in the learner’s own words.
  2. Retry the most difficult mastery question.
  3. Apply the idea to one new but appropriate situation.
  4. Record what is secure and what needs another supported attempt.
